Jan. 7th: TIn a significant community outreach initiative aimed at promoting eye health and preventive care, a Free Eye Check-up and Spectacle Distribution Campwas successfully organized today at the Infant Jesus Hall, Bikarnakatte. The programme was jointly conducted by the Infant Jesus Shrinein collaboration withCarmel Jyothi Public Charitable Trust, Dr. Agarwal’s Eye HospitalandVision World.

The camp was formally inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Melvin Dcunha, Superior of St. Joseph Monastery, along with other dignitaries, by symbolically watering the plant underscoring the message of care, growth, and service to humanity.

Addressing the gathering, Rev. Fr. William Miranda, Secretary of Carmel Jyothi Public Charitable Trust, highlighted the Trust’s ongoing social action initiatives, emphasizing its commitment to healthcare, education, and welfare programmes for the underprivileged.

The event witnessed the presence of Rev. Fr. Stifan Perera, Director of the Infant Jesus Shrine, along with a dedicated medical team comprising ophthalmologists Dr. Krisma, Dr. Vijitha, and Dr. Mahesh, supported by their staff. Mr. Ronald Colaco and Mrs. Elsie were also present, lending their support to the initiative.

The camp received an overwhelming response from the local community, with a large number of residents availing themselves of the free eye examinations. As part of the outreach, free spectacles were distributed to those diagnosed with vision problems, bringing visible relief and happiness to many beneficiaries.

The organizers noted that such programmes play a crucial role in early detection of eye-related issues and reaffirmed their resolve to continue similar community-focused healthcare initiatives in the future.
